Zeynep’s Secrets – Hummus Recipe

Today I want to share with you my Hummus recipe.

To start we have to leave the chickpeas in water overnight. This will allow the chickpeas to soften and makes it easier to peel off the skin.

Once you have peeled off the skin, you just need to add all the other ingredients into the bowl: salt, cumin, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, tahini and give it a good mix. I used a blender.

Now you can add a few more spices, as you wish, and either some parsley or chilli to decorate it.

– 500g chickpeas
– 1 glass of tahini
– salt
– 1 tea spoon cumin
– paprika powder
– parsley
– 3-4 garlic
– 4 table spoons fresh lemon juice

Zeynep’s Secrets – Super Healthy Bulgur Salad

Today I want to share with you the recipe to a super healthy salad, known as Kisir.
Kisir is the Turkish name of the Bulgur salad and very popular in Turkey.
Bulgur is a form of wheat. It is low in calories and fat, rich in protein and fibre, rich in mineral magnesium and helps reduce weight.

This is what you need:

– 2 cups of Bulgur / wheat
– 4 cups of boiling water
– 1 cup of olive oil
– 1 table spoon of tomato and paprika paste
– 1 tea spoon of paprika powder
– 1 onion
– 2 tomatoes if you wish
– Parsley
– Spring onions
– Lettuce
– 2 lemons
– 1/2 cup of olive oil
– Spices & seasoning (salt, black pepper, paprika, cumin)
– Dill
– Mint

FirstBulgur Salad wash the Bulgur and add 1 cup of Bulgur into a bowl. Add 1 cup of boiling water to the bowl, close the lid and wait for 10 min.

Meanwhile start chopping the parsley, onion, spring onions, mint, and dill into little pieces.

After 10 min the Bulgur should have absorbed the water. Now you can start adding the tomato and paprika paste, lemon juice, olive oil, the spices and then all the greens which you chopped earlier.

Mix it all well with your fingers.

Now take one piece of lettuce and one table spoon of the salad, wrap it in the lettuce and enjoy!

Zeynep.YogaSo many of my students have asked me in the previous year “What do you eat?”, “What do you have for breakfast”, “How many days do you practice?” etc.

I decided 2016 is the year to give you a little bit more insight into my life and share my secrets with you, how I stay fit, young and still look like 18 even though I’m 31! Yes, for those who didn’t know my age they have probably fallen off the chair already. 😉

This first video shows you how I make my very own energy booster smoothie for 2016! I absolutely love smoothies in the mornings as they give me all the energy I need for the whole day. And yes, I also love exotic fruits, I’ve probably tried all of them and can tell you how they taste like. 😉

All you need is the following (serving 2 people):

– Blender
– 1/4 of a pineapple
– An orange
– A lime
– 3 mini banana chiquitas
– 1/2 a mango
– 4 physalis
– Basil
– Parsley
– Cress if you have some (I used a beetroot cress from the garden)
– Organic milk (200ml)
– Moringa powder (2 table spoons)
– Chia seeds (3 table spoons)
– Passion fruit juice (50ml)

When you have chopped up everything, put it into the blender and give it a good mix. If you feel that the smoothie is too thick, you can always add a little bit more fruit juice in, depends on what you have at home. If you like it creamy, add some milk or cream.

When ready pour it into your glass, enjoy and feel that rising energy inside your body. Let 2016 be a healthy year full of energy!
